Interview Project Infinity

Hi, Project Infinity. Greetings from Sick and Destroy team. What are you up to these days?

Woody (singer) : Hey. I just got home after we rehearsed and drank for several days in a row.

Would you please introduce your band to our readers who are not aware of your band and music?

Oleg (guitarist): We are Project infinity: progressive metal band with admixtures of different genres, our music can be described as emotional and powerful, diverse and contrasting.

Give us a little insight into the formation of the band. When and how did it happen?

Oleg (guitarist): This happened a year ago. First we met with Woody and decided in which direction our music would go. Then we found our bass guitar player Andrei, and later Woody invited his longtime friend Dima to drums, and after that we recorded the album and immediately signed a contract with Suspiria Records.

At what age did you guys start playing instruments? Since when are you into metal music?

Oleg (guitarist): I began to master the guitar at the age of 14, namely, to consciously listen and take music seriously and develop some taste I started somewhere from the age of 10.

Project Infinity recently released album Universe. Tell us something about it. Walk us through all the tracks lyrics and meaning.

Woody (singer): The Universe is my best lyrics. Since childhood I have been interested in space and have fantasized a lot about the first space travels. Someday the first people will go to colonize new planets. in a place that does not seem anywhere else, where a person is just a guest, just an enemy, just a victim. The desires of people are much stronger than any poison and much more dangerous than any disease.

The text of the song “Native Planet” I wrote after Donald Trump decided to withdraw the United States from the Paris Climate Agreement. 40% of people in the world die due to environmental pollution. Deforestation… Emissions to the atmosphere … Many people are completely mired in their work, their entertainment, and they see nothing. Although it is time to open our eyes and see that our house is about to collapse. And no one should blame it, except for each of us. Save the Earth!

The text of the song “Drifters” I wrote because the war in the east of Ukraine took my home away from me. And my generation is forced to start life from scratch in other places .

The rest of songs are related to space. This is our universe in our heads, which we transmit through music.

How has been the response so far by the listeners? Have you started working on new songs already?

Oleg (guitarist): Positively, even those who do not listen to similar genres responded very well, and already there is new material for a couple of new songs.

When and where did you play your first gig? How was the experience of going live for the first time?

Oleg (guitarist): in Kiev, in one of the clubs, for the first time. I think pretty well, our live music is well perceived and energetic and I think it’s a good indicator.

What, according to you, is the secret behind band’s success?

Woody (singer): There are 3 main indicators: Skill, Finance, and Popularity.

For us in the first place is the Mastery.

Ever had an epic fail moment during a gig?

Oleg (guitarist): Not yet.

If asked to differentiate Project Infinity from other bands in your country, how would you like to respond to it?

Oleg (guitarist): Calmly I think we have quite noticeable own peculiarities of music.

How compatible are band members with each other?

Oleg (guitarist): I think we are well compatible. all calm and great people, moreover, all remarkable musicians and excellent people, this is rarely the case and I am glad that this is how it is with us.

Which bands/ artists do you draw your influences from? Which are your favorite local bands?

Oleg (guitarist): Personally, I am more inspired by instrumentalists Joe Satriani, Steve Wai, from moderns – Sergey Golovin, Jason Richardson, Gatri Gowan. From Ukrainian bands – Morphine suffernig, Space of variation, Jinjer.

How do you guys manage jobs and gigs? Also how often do you guys gathering altogether just to fun?

Woody (singer): We are going to perform at several festivals in 2019. We focus on the festivals to capture a large audience.

Unfortunately, we don’t see each other together often, because now I live in Lviv. But when we meet together – we always have a great time!

Project Infinity is very promising formation. Talking of your future, 5 years from now, where do you see yourself?

Oleg (guitarist): Until I decide to say, it is difficult to predict something even for the year ahead. but I hope that everything will be fine and only more successful and successful for our band.

Well, that’s it. Thanks a lot for your time. Speak out to all your fans and supporters.

And thank you too!
