Interview Era Capricorn

Hi, Era Capricorn. “I Wander Alone” released on April 9th. You must be excited?
Hi Sick and Destroy magazine, thanks for having us. Yes we are very happy. It is our first record and finally being able to release it after a lot of work is indeed exciting.

First of all, we would like to know about the formation of the band. When and how was it formed? Do you think the band name ‘Era Capricorn’ perfectly decribes your music and philosophy?
The band consists of Marina, who is our keys/synth player and Alex, the guitar and bass player. We are a couple and share the same taste of music. We decided to start our own project in 2016, but we have known each other for a long time now. The name “Era Capricorn” does not really describe our sound. We wanted the Capricorn to be our symbol and therefore chose this name.

Okay now tell us something about “I Wander Alone”, and the lyrical themes behind each track. What are the ideas you wanted to put across?
There are no lyrics. As of now, our music is strictly instrumental. So the music itself needs to deliver, whichever idea we wanted to put across. We wanted the songs to all have a very dense atmosphere, that can carry you away, if you let it. We wanted to create songs of varying degrees of heaviness, while never losing the relaxing aspects and strong melodies.

Where and when did you record “I Wander Alone”? Are you satisfied with it?
We recorded the whole record in our apartment by ourselves. The whole process lasted from August 2017 to April 2018. We bought the necessary equipment and just went at it, reading and collecting whatever information about this topic, that we could. We wanted to do everything by ourselves, as we wanted to gather as much experience as we could during this whole process. So yeah, right now we are very satisfied with and proud of our record.

Are you gonna to release some official band merch?
We recently added stickers to our shop, which we ship with every record order. We are also looking into the possibilities of producing a few shirts. What comes after that, we will see.

What are Era Capricorn’s musical and non-musical influences?
Marina is a bit more of a doomy person with favorite bands like Draconian and Saturnus, while I, Alex, tend to listen to a bit more atmospheric metal like Summoning or Eldamar. We also both like epic sounding movie scores. These influences combined, made Era Capricorn sound the way it sounds now.

Could you please express your personal views on religion and god?
We would prefer not to.

Shall we expect some gigs across USA or Europe near time?
USA is out of the question right now. Regarding Europe, we will see what the future brings. Right now, we do not have a lineup for doing live shows, as it is only the 2 of us, playing several instruments on the record. If we will develop the band into a full lineup in the future, is uncertain right now.

When shall fans to expect something new from you? Videoclip, single, documentary etc?
We are planning to film a video clip for one of our songs. We already released 2 full songs on Youtube and a trailer, where you can listen to every song on the album. We are also starting to post some stuff on our facebook page…pictures of us and stuff like that.

Thanks a lot for the interview. Speak out to your fans, supporters, critics and our readers before we wrap up!
We would like to thank everybody, who supported us up to this point, listened to our music, reviewed our album, left a comment, followed our page or ordered our record. We are very grateful for every type of support, that we get. Of course, that includes you girls and guys from Sick and Destroy Webzine. Thanks for having us.
