Interview Flaktiin

Killer black death metal from Portugal!

Hi! Tell me about Flaktiin. Why did you decide to name the band with such title? What kind of ideas do you explore?

Belial Necro :it comes from the Flak 18 gun used in WW2.

“Souls for the Legions” demo was released last month. How does that make you feel? Are you completely satisfied with the result?

I am satisfied and happy with the result.

Tell me more about “Souls for the Legions”? Does it have some conception etc?

Yes of course, hatred, war, blood, submission, imposing dogmas, religious fanaticism, all that scum that has been walking the earth for a long time.

So when fans may await for the full-length album? Are you planning to re-record some songs from the demo for album?

I still do not know if we’re going to re-record some of the EP’s songs, probably not, but we’re already working on the next album.

I haven’t found any info if band members are/were participated in some other bands. Is this some kind of secret or?

No, there is no secret, they are friends that I contacted after recording the EP to perform live, some have other projects, others have stopped for some time, but we all like what is being done in FlaktiiN.

Where do you take all inspiration from?

We all love and dig death, black, doom, old school stuff, I personally love Bolzer, Zom, Deathcult, Revenge, and so many old school death, doom, black metal bands so it´s easy and natural for me to create an angry athmospheric metal mood.

In your opinion, what is the best way to define Flaktiin’s sound?

I honestly do not know… What I know is what I feel when I write and I play and I keep this for myself… But I hope that I can pass that feeling on to those who listen.

What are your main musical influences? How huge is their influence in your sound?

Many more extreme metal bands I’ve heard since I was 15 years old.

Is there some well-known musician in particular that you would like to use in one of your upcoming albums?

I’m already working on it, but there are still no certainties.

What is your personal strategy for making your music heard by a larger audience?

I have none, just play and scream what I feel and like.

Do you have any other hobby beside music?

Not for now.

What does your pseudonyms means for you personally?

I have no definition, but rather what the Belial represents.

Are you all supported by your relatives towards your devotion to music?

I think so… I hope… hahahaha

How’s the metal scene in Portugal right now? Is it easy to play gigs, to buy records etc there these days?

Is quite healthy, a lot of releases this year and 2017, decayed, IRAE, Corpus Christii, Flagellum Dei, Viles Vitae first EP in 2017, and yes we have some good places to play good gigs, and a lot of good honest labels to buy records, War art productions, Caverna Abismal, Signal rex, Glam-O-Rama Rock Shop and others.

Thank you for answering my questions, see ya on the road!

Cheers.
