Interview Swan Valley Heights

Hi, Swan Valley Heights. “The Heavy Seed” will be released on September. You must be excited?

Very much so, dear sir. Been waiting for this baby to see the light and now we’re looking forward to all the joy and problems that come along with parenthood.

First of all, we would like to know about the formation of the band. When and how was it formed? Do you think the band name ‘Swan Valley Heights’ perfectly describes your music and philosophy?

We started out in early 2014. Andy and David grew up in the same Bavarian wasteland, so finding each other and forming a band was only consequential. One year later, Chris joined the joy ride. The band name is more of a vibe carrier than an in-depth description, so yeah, it just sounds great and is apparently unpronounceable for the majority of the German people, hence it might stick with them.

Okay now tell us something about “The Heavy Seed”, and the lyrical themes behind each track. What are the ideas you wanted to put across?

We cut back the amount of vocals on this record and focused more on the music. Vocals and lyrics stay pretty important nonetheless. They deal with personal stuff.

Where and when did you record “The Heavy Seed”? Are you satisfied with it?

We recorded it at Panorama Tonstudio in Bavaria. Stephan, a good friend of ours, is running this analog Frankenstein machine, with the heart of it being a restored desk from a GDR broadcasting van. And there’s quite some chickens hanging out in the garden, so the breeding conditions are perfect. Mixing and mastering was done by Mr. Dango of Truckfighters, and saying that we are satisfied with the whole thing would be a massive understatement.

Are you going to release some official band merch?

There’s plenty of merch coming along with the album, all of which you can find in the Fuzzorama Store. Shirts, patches, posters, cups and trenchcoats, you name it. The album itself will be available in three different vinyl colors.

What are Swan Valley Heights’s musical and non-musical influences?

Andy is influencing David musically. And Chris influences Andy, sort of. Andy won’t confirm that. Sometimes, Chris’ bass playing is influenced by David’s riffing. Then there’s coconut water. Nobody’s being influenced by cranberry juice anymore.

Could you please express your personal views on religion and god?

No gods, no gurus, no chakra cleanings. Magic and gatherings, that’s a religion. Andy is on a different horse. He believes in iodine and the power of crystal sniffing.

Shall we expect some gigs across USA or Europe near time?

You shall! We’ll excessively tour Europe supporting Truckfighters this October with shows in Austria, Germany, Poland, England, France and Belgium. The US, who knows? We are ready. Would be lovely to check in after the 2020 election to help them rebuild the country.

When shall fans expect something new from you? Videoclip, single, documentary etc?

We will probably drop another single in the summer. Apart from that we’re gonna be busy promoting the new album for a while. But if you want some documentary-ish insights, feel free and head over to our Instagram and Facebook pages. Not to brag, but we’re kinda good at it.

Thanks a lot for the interview. Speak out to your fans, supporters, critics and our readers before we wrap up!

Turn your modems off before going to bed. Everybody’s gotta start somewhere. And “The Heavy Seed” will be released September 6th via Fuzzorama Records! So check out our stuff, buy our stuff, make us famous and rich.
