- Hi! Give a brief history of PAROLE PERSE, music style, and the members.
Hi there! Parole Perse is a life project, the first hints of the band can be found in ealry 2000, but it lasted just a couple of rehearsals, then we were active for a couple of years during 2007-2008 with the first lineup, after that the band was put on hold until 2011, we thought it was a shame not to keep on, therefore with a new lineup we published the first demo (Parole Perse) in 2012 and the first EP (My Presence, the Shades) in 2014.
In 2015 2 members left the band creating a massive shockvave that led us with the release of Epicentrum in 2017, with a renewed lineup we had some gigs with some positive feedbacks. You can say that Parole Perse is an entity able to mold and modify itself through time.
Our genre can be labeled as Post-Metal: there are some elements coming from Death Metal and from Post Rock
The Actual lineup is
Carlo Guitars and Vocals
Pat Bass and Backing Vocals
- Give in more detail, some information about your latest album and how well it sells?
Our new Album “Epicentrum” came out last year. This is a consequence of the shockwave we went through: 2 members quit the band leaving Carlo and Pino on their own. From that moment we started writing all songs and rearranging unreleased tracks. The album is a delicate balance between tones of dark and light: we were sad and upset but at the same time happy and full of joy in accepting the challenge. We believe that we could do a super job and we wanted to show ourselves that the band was not dead. The final product is a fantastic work enriched with the new entries Pat and Piter who gave a breathe of fresh air to the band.
- PAROLE PERSE has signed with Sliptrick records, tell more about that?
Before releasing we did a crowdfunding campaign that was a big success (200% of the target) that opened some doors, we got in contact with Sliptrick records and since from the beginning there was the interest of working together, we agreed pretty quickly and we are happy about this decision since they are doing a very good job in terms of sales and visibility.
- What inspires PAROLE PERSE music and lyric writing? What does PAROLE PERSE lyrics talk about?
Carlo: I have been always fascinated about science, lyrically I took inspiration for all lyrics from the movie “interstellar”, especially the line “the empathy rarely extends beyond our line of sight”. I started working from there. I usually write what I feel in that moment adding some science elements in it, you can see it on our titles:
Libra and Nebula (Astros), 3rd Law (Physics), Fission (Chemistry).
The “story” is the balance of opposite feelings we had after the band revolution: sad but happy, rabid but full of joy.
- Do you play live often? Do you like abroad gigs?
We would like to play more often, but as you know it’s very hard to find gigs, we have a pretty good fan base in our area (South Switzerland) but this is becoming a sort of prison for us. We would like to cross some borders, that’s why we are working hard and create some new contacts in order to have a chance to explore another zone. We are planning by the way to have some concerts starting from fall.
- How often does the band practice and work on new material?
Usually we practice twice a week: one day is for the setlist, the other one is for new stuff
It’s important to go on with the writing process but in the meantime we must keep the old songs fresh without becoming too much rusty.
- How did the band come up with the name PAROLE PERSE and tell what does it means for you?
Carlo: I always had some issues to talk to people or communicate/interact, those are my Lost words which is the english version of our band name. Music has always helped me to overcome this barier, it’s been always the right vehicle for me to express my feelings and emotions, that’s why we decided to use it. Long ago we used Lost Words, but then we decided to switch to the Italian translation since it has a stronger meaning/impact for us.
- What does the band plan on doing in near time?
We are planning, as said before, to have some gigs starting by fall and to keep on writing new songs in the meantime, to see if we can release the new album next year! We are doing well so far, there are a lot of good ideas, we are coming up with a very strong material.
- Any message to Sick and Destroy readers?
