Interview Heretic’s Dream

Francesca, Heretic’s Dream vocalist, answers:

  • Hi! Give a brief history of HERETIC’S DREAM, music style, and the members.

The idea of the project came to life in the UK, where Andrej (the guitarist, my husband) and I lived from 2010 to 2014. We were coming from such different music background: Andrej was a metal/trash head, my approach to music was through pop/electronic dark. Thus, putting together his ideas with mine was a challenging experiment, which still keep going on.  It’s our dream, though it’s an heresy.

  • Give in more detail, some information about “A Price To Pay” and how well it sells?

I am a 9-years old boy’s mother, and being a parent is highly absorbing, as this world is dangerous and tuff. You would like to always protect your child, though you know he needs to make his own experiences, and also to fall, because only by falling he’ll learn out to stand up again. To love somebody is like dying a bit, to make a deal with Hell, to talk to God, to survive to the pain of waiting for a call to come. This is the price to pay, when you love. As far as sales figures, only Sliptrick knows =)

  • HERETIC’S DREAM has signed with Sliptrick records, tell more about that?

We signed a couple of years ago, for the release of “Floating state of mind”. Carlo (Muselli, Sliptrick CEO) is a real gentleman, very focused on job, always very polite and competent.

  • What is the difference between your latest and the very first records?

A record is a picture shot in a specific moment of life. Anyone can taste the band’s journey during our shows, as the set list always includes songs from all albums. People grow, they age, they mature, their fears change, as well as dreams. But it’s always you, through years. More than 20 musicians put their feet in the band within 9 years, and each of them left a piece of himself. Heretic’s Dream has always been an “open source” project, guided by a unique leader, Andrej.

  • What inspires HERETIC’S DREAM music and lyric writing? What does HERETIC’S DREAM lyrics talk about?

About the most complex system in the universe: the human being. I will never be able to write about dragons and swords, I need to talk about something I feel on my skin. By telling my stories as a wife, a mother, a sister, a daughter, a member of this society, I aim to trigger an inner dialogue in the listener, who hopefully can find some food for thoughts in my own experience.

  • Do you play live often? Do you like abroad gigs?

We love playing in the East Europe, where our kind of music is very appreciated. People there are amazingly passionate about music, and actively live shows in such an enthusiastic way.

  • How often does the band practice and work on new material?

We rehearse when needed, i.e. before leaving for a show, or when we are working on new material, as we currently are.

  • How did the band come up with the name HERETIC’S DREAM and tell what does it means for you?

I think I already explained this with my first answer here: Andrej and I had the dream to put together two words with no apparent link. Wouldn’t you say we are heretics in this? Metal is so full of unwritten rules, and we broke them all. It’s like Madonna singing Pantera. We all saw the reactions of the metal heads to Lady Gaga performing with Metallica…

  • What does the band plan on doing in near time?

Releasing the new album.

  • Any message to Sick and Destroy readers?

Keep your mind always open to new experiences. Have your own ideas and fight for them, but be also prepared to subvert them completely, for the good reason.
