Full Album Stream: Avslut “Deceptis”

Avslut’s promo text reads like this: “Avslut depicts a deformed, decayed, and lost mankind. The group has its roots in the suburbs of Stockholm, Sweden. With full force, following their well-received Vanskapt mini-album last year, Avslut is now releasing their highly awaited debut album, Deceptis. The album will take you on a journey through your deepest and darkest desires with a perfect blend of atmosphere, fierceness, and groovy parts.”

After falling into an empty grave while listening to Deceptis, Decibel can vouch for the hyperbole in Osmose’s description of the Swedes’ long-awaited debut. Well, maybe the “groovy parts” isn’t apt to Avslut’s overarching malice, but there are points on Deceptis where the Stockholmites cut the slightest of infernal rugs, a la early Dark Funeral or mid-period Watain. That being said, there’s a lot of quality black and death metal coming out of the Land of Tre Kronor recently, and Avslut’s no different. From the moment Deceptis kicks off on “Pestilens” to the closing track “Avslut,” it’s all a journey in the dark, where Avslut weave brutal yet (slightly) melodic metal with high levels of hatred imbued.

For fans of: Dark Funeral, Watain, Dissection, Necrophobic, Setherial, and The Abyss. Not for fans of: Europe, Pretty Maids, or TNT. Bring on the darkness! Worship the endless black!
