Interview My Space Invaders

Hi! Give a brief history of My Space Invaders, music style, and the members.

Hi! Here is Sam bass player answering.

We play music that could be defined a high energy punk-rock/Melodic Hc in the typical “Californian” way since 2008. Each one of us had previously played in other bands with different musical backgrounds, bringing together various influences. The current line up features: Francesco “Bardy” Bardaro (drums), Simone “Kelly Simon” Stocheli (guitars and lead vocals), Sami “LuciferSam” Decaneva (Bass) and Andrea “Jhonny” Zanolla (guitars and lead vocals). We live in Trieste (IT) and we realise 3 full length album which brought us live in the major European Countries.

Give in more detail, some information about your latest music stuff!

Our new album “Dogs’n’Pigs” experiments the “one track” formula.

Half an hour of music in several chapters that will tell a story about the eternal chronicle of tyranny and slavery in a different way. As you can hear in the album, we never stop and so we do live!

My Space Invaders has signed with Sliptrick records, tell more about that?

We sent our new music around the globe, and Sliptrick Records picked up the call! They believed in our project and we choose them to co produce our new album.

What is the difference between your latest and the very first records?

Our first record “666 Hi Score” was entirely written by Bardy (Drummer), who made up a concept album about the social life on the web. The music of the new one was written by all band members, but anyhow Bardy took care of the lyrics and the producing process like the first two records.

What inspires My Space Invaders music and lyric writing? What does My Space Invaders lyrics talk about?

Each one of us is inspired by different things, I prefer to compose dark and angry parts while I think about society problems, but most of the time riffs come to me while improvising. Lyrics are always on Bardy with some help from my side, the latest album as I told you is about Tyranny and slavery in modern days, the first one is about fake internet social life, the second one “No Money No Fun” it’s more standard, each song has a topic: our home town, friends, life problems but mostly having fun without money!!!

Do you play live often? Do you like abroad gigs?

We are a Live band and yes we love to perform in all kind of situations. We try to do our best to tour as much as possible, always arranging band life with family and work. That’s why we have long periods not performing, but when we do, we go hard!

How often does the band practice and work on new material?

We are not used to do standard weekly practice, some times we skip a few weeks, some times we play every day. It depends on how much work we have to do. We work on new material usually in summer while we are on tour or at the practice between gigs.

How did the band come up with the name My Space Invaders and tell what does it means for you?

Bardy mixed the “Space Invaders” arcade game with “mySpace” a popular social network at the time. He did it as a complaint against the “fake” copy of ourselves that we share on the web. He is very nostalgic and miss the old fashioned games. After 10 years i have to say we are a family, so it means a lot to me.

What does the band plan on doing in near time?

We are promoting our new album and booking the summer Europe tour! Stay tuned for more news!

Any message to Sick and Destroy readers?

Rock hard, fuck on the floor and break shit!!!! \m/
