Good day Nyctophilia! How are you guys doing these days?
First of all, please introduce your band and band members to our readers.
Nyctophilia consists only of me Grief, I’m doing all the work including mixing the record.
I’d like to know about the formation of the band. How did you guys meet and all. Also, is there any special story behind the band title?
Nothing special here, Nyctophilia is my fucked up mind and thoughts put to paper and later on music. Name for this project came to me when one day/night I fucked myself pretty bad and went out for a walk into the woods, I was listening to Striborg and then that name came to my mind, later I found that this is mental sickness.
I expect a long reply for this one. Can you please tell us about the concept and lyrical themes of all your previous releases?
Most of the lyrics I do are about, darkness, pain, death and nature, some part of satanism also. I try put to paper something that wil truly reflect my thoughts. All of those themes are connected in some way, massive part of nature is death, all our life we head towards death. I try show it to people maybe some will understand some probably won’t at all. I can say that all lyrics that I have written are true and all of them i can back up. The concept on previous albums were mostly setted up around darkness and death, how our life’s can be pathetic and meaningless. Darkness is in everyone but only few embrace it.
Is there any special reason for choosing your music conception?
Yes, I despise human race.
How do you guys manage to create music at all? What challenges do you face while writing and recording an album?
Creating music can be… hard especially when you know what you want to convey.
It can take a lot of time and strength from taking it to your head and how it sound inside your head and transfering it to a record. With each record I have this moment when I want to throw everything to a bin and say to myself‚ ’fuck this’’.
Luckily i’m able to finish anything.
Your latest album ‘Dwelling in the Fullmoon Light’ was released on June 6th. How was the experience working on the studio? Any funny or even sad happenings during the studio work?
Recording of this album took me long time but i can say I’m quite happy with the results. Nothing really happened.
You guys are still underground/underrated, although your music has been appreciated by the critics worldwide. What, according to you, is the reason behind it?
I don’t really know since I still find my music to be not 100% the way i want it and it never sounds how I wanted it to sound but I’m sure working with some great labels helped a lot in spreading my message.
Can you throw some light on your past as musicians?
There is not much I can say about that, I first started playing drums and learned myself on vocals I wanted to form a band but it never really worked out and then I thought about doing everything myself.
Tell us about your favorite bands, from whom you gain inspiration. Are you having any favorite artist/band that has emerged from metal/rock soil?
The band that got me into black metal is The True Mayhem, Dead era. One of my all time favourites, to say from who I gain inspiration is hard because there is so many things that do this but if I had to name a few projects or bands it would be, Xasthur, Striborg, Elysian Blaze, Shining, Satanic Warmaster etc.
How is the metal scene going in your country?
Pretty good I think Poland has had one of the most extreme scenes in terms of black metal circles and bands, now it’s like everywhere else lots of posers and pseudo elitist kids talking much doing nothing.
Tell us, if you have played abroad.
I haven’t played and probably will never do a live show.
Are you working on any music videos, might it be videoclip or lyric video?
Rapid fire section. Just for fun. So just chill, and just type the first thought that comes to your mind when you hear:
* Religion – Mind control
* Depression – Life
* Killmister – Man
* Kurwa – Whore
* Death – Eternity
Thanks a lot for your time! It’s really nice to know more about you. Would you like to say anything to your fans and our readers?
Hail Darkness and Hail Death!
