Hi! Give a brief history of VALLE CRUCIS, music style, and the members.
Valle Crucis is a black metal band, formed in May of 2016. The project formed a few months after I (Skullcrusher) stepped down from a previous band and recruited Ashriel on drums (ex-IV Never More, Adimiron Sphere). We continue as a two-piece today.
Give in more detail, some information about your self-titled album and how well it sells?
Our debut EP is a collection of raw, violent black metal. Themes ranging from anti-religion to hate & sexual desires. We are doing well with sells from a newer/unknown band. We had our first few international CD sells in the past month and things are looking to continue to get better as time moves forward.
VALLE CRUCIS has signed with no label, are you looking for sme proper label now?
We are looking for a label. We do have interest from a US based underground label. More information will be available on that when we get the details.
What is the difference between your latest and the very first records?
Our current EP is our only release so far. We are currently working on material for a full-length album. If listeners enjoyed our debut, they will most certainly be pleased with the material we are working on now.
What inspires VALLE CRUCIS music and lyric writing? What does VALLE CRUCIS lyrics talk about?
The lyrics speak on anything from anti-religion, hate, sex, & history. Some current events inspire some of the lyrics, personal experiences, etc. The way the music comes out is a reflection of anger or frustration which makes it violent sounding. We’ve been compared to Marduk, Mork Gryning, etc.
Do you play live often? Do you like abroad gigs?
We play live a few times in a year. We haven’t toured or played abroad, but those are certainly goals we have. We are working on playing shows in more parts of the U.S. in the coming year.
How often does the band practice and work on new material?
We practice once a week and usually there is something new we are working on every time we get together. The writing process is constant because we like to switch up our setlist for shows instead of playing the same 5-8 songs every time we go out and play.
How did the band come up with the name VALLE CRUCIS and tell what does it means for you?
The name Valle Crucis comes from a legend in the small mountain town in North Carolina (Though, we are from South Carolina). When naming something, I like it to have some kind of local symbolism (or near local in this case). The name, this project, is a full embodiment of what we are desiring to achieve as a band. There are some around here that are afraid to be offensive to people, subject matter, etc. We don’t care. It’s black metal. We’re not going to take it easy on anyone just because they might bet offended or upset at the themes. Being controversial comes with the territory of this style of music.
What does the band plan on doing in near time?
We are currently working on material for a debut full-length album and working on playing more shows around the country including some possible festival appearances.
