Interview MY REGIME

Hi! Tell me about MY REGIME. Why did you decide to name the band with such title? What kind of ideas do you explore?

Since it’s my soloband and I already have another soloband with my name in it (BAND OF SPICE) I thought I just call it MY REGIME =The way I prefer to express myself when it comes to fast and raw metal.

“Deranged Patterns” album was released last month. How does that make you feel? Do you feel you have put album into masses without any wishes to change something now?

I’m really pleased of how it turned out. I would not change anything. It has the sound I was looking for.

Tell me more about “Deranged Patterns”? Album ideas etc…

On Dogmas I wanted the sound to be as close to Reign in blood as possible. I deliberately used gears and settings that they used when they were making that record. On Deranged Patterns I wanted the sound to be more of a mix of my favorite thrash records around 1984 – 1990. Lyrics on Dogmas were very political. Deranged Patterns It’s more of a personal inner journey. Music wise you can say that it’s a mixture of old school thrash with some melodic elements.

Cover artwork made by Paolo Girardi (Manilla Road, Black Breath, Inquisition), do you find it the only proper one for this album?

As he painted the first one (Dogmas) I wanted him to do this one as well. I like to have continuity. So people can recognize it’s a MY REGIME album. Just like Iron Maiden, Slayer ect.

Where do you take all inspiration from?

The past and the future. Tv, books, my own life. Everything that I find interesting or things that upsets me.

In your opinion, what is the best way to define MY REGIME’s sound?

Honest and energetic. Pure and soulful Thrashmetal. Far from the plastic sound of modern metal bands.

So, are you on hiatus now, just relaxed and looking for album feedbacks, or did you started to compose new stuff immediately?

I’m heading into the studio next week to make a new BAND OF SPICE album, that will come out later this year. After that I am planning to start rehearsing new songs for a new MY REGIME record. The plan is to hit the studio later this year. I already have a bunch of new songs ready.

What are your main musical influences? How huge is their influence in your sound?

John Frusciante, Jeff Hanneman, Tony Iommi, Dave Mustaine, Phil Lynott to name a few.

Is there some well-known musician in particular that you would like to use in one of your upcoming albums?

John Frusciante would have been nice to work with. But I don’t think that’s ever gonna happen.

What is your personal strategy for making your music heard by a larger audience?

I don’t think I have a strategy. I just want to keep on making music and records that I want to hear myself. Or in other words, I like to make records that I’m lacking in my own personal record collection.

Do you have any other hobby beside music? I don’t know if I have any hobbies. I don’t know if watching tv goes under that category?

Are you all supported by your relatives towards your devotion to music?

I don’t understand the question… I’m 47 years old.

Meant your relative’s attitude towards your musical activity) How’s the metal scene in your part of Sweden right now? Is it easy to play gigs, to buy records etc there these days?

I guess it’s ok. I don’t really pay any attention when it comes to new bands in my area. And I hardly ever go to watch another band playing a gig.

Thank you for answering my questions, see ya on the road!

Thanks and take care.

Cheers,
/Spice.
