Mindless Sinner was formed back in ’80s, but since they were completely inactive (just one album in ’80s and new one last year) – there are a few people who know them very well. Thus now is the time to know a bit more about them! In spite of Christer Göransson was not too gabby, there is a bit of info!
Hi! Tell me about Mindless Sinner. As far as I know, you had several titles in the days of band was born, why did you decide to name the band with such title? What kind of ideas do you explore?
The band was formed as Purple Haze without a singer and When we got together in august 1981.
We renamed the band to Genocide. After a while we learned that there was another band with that name so we changed it to Mindless Sinner.
“The New Messiah” album was released last year, and Vinyl version – May this year. Howdoesthatmakeyoufeel? Do you feel you have put album into masses without any wishes to change something now?
It’s always great to put out new records. And we’re really proud of The New Messiah.
Do you personally prefer CD or Vinyl version?
Tell me more about “The New Messiah”? Album ideas etc…
Well the idea was to make an album that would have sound like it was a released just after the Turn on the power album. And I think we did but with a 2015 touch.
Where do you take all inspiration from?
We take inspiration from everything. It Could be real life or fantasies.
Your main themes are: Occult, Women, Love, Metal… Can you tell me more about roles of each noted topic for Mindless Sinner and musicians as well?
We don’t have any rules for the topics. The songs just turns out as they do.
In your opinion, what is the best way to define Mindless Sinner’s sound?
Old School heavy metal.
So, are you on hiatus now, just relaxed and looking for album feedbacks, or did you started to compose new stuff immediately?
We are Always throwing ideas around for songs but often we decide that now it’s time to start pre production. So soon it will be time for another album to be recorded.
What are your main musical influences? How huge is their influence in your sound?
We have many but to name a few, Priest, maiden, DIO ……… the list goes on.
Then of course we are try to have our own sound.
Is there some well-known musician in particular that you would like to use in one of your upcoming albums?
No not really.
What is your personal strategy for making your music heard by a larger audience?
I think that the best thing is to play live.
Do you have any other hobby beside music?
No not really, it’s all about the music.
All of you are mature and skilled musicians… What’s your personal opinion about nowadays metal scene?
I think it’s healthy and there’s a lot of good bands out there.
Are you all supported by your relatives towards your devotion to music?
How’s the metal scene in Linköping right now? Is it easy to play gigs, to buy records etc there these days?
I think it’s pretty good but it’s a small City so you Can’t play too often.
